Pancake the Pup: Privacy
Last updated November 4, 2026
What's recorded
- On the child's reading turns, the microphone records what it hears. That can include a grown-up helping and other sounds in the room.
- With each recording we keep what the child was asked to read, what was heard, how the turn went, and the phone's model and its iOS and app versions.
- Each install gets a random ID, so its recordings can be found and deleted.
The app doesn't ask for the child's name or age. It has no sign-in, ads, tracking or purchases.
How long
Recordings are kept until you delete them.
Your choices
Press and hold the felt button at the top right of the game to open the grown-up area.
- Delete recordings erases every recording we keep, on the phone and on our servers. New turns are still saved.
- Delete account erases the child's progress and their recordings.
- To stop altogether, tap Delete recordings, then delete the app. It has to be in that order: only the app can tell the server which recordings are yours.
Changes and contact
We'll update this page, and tell invited families about anything that changes what's recorded or who hears it. Questions: Jonathan Perl, hello@pancakepup.com.
